The Ash Surgery

The Ash Surgery was established at 1 Ashfield Road in 1989 Dr Johnson left the practice recently March 2024. Dr Lynn, Dr McCabe and Dr Miller are the current 3 partners.

The team of doctors includes 5 Salaried GP’s, Dr Morris, Dr Daniel and Dr Jermin, Dr Wilkinson and Dr McAvoy  and in addition, as a training practice, has GP Registrar’s.  Each of the doctors have their own special areas of interest and expertise.

The nursing team is led by our senior nurse, Sister Karen Rietdyk, who is supported with additional clinics by Sister Shelley Blunden.  They have been established at The Ash Surgery for many years and provide essential support to patient care.

The clinicians are supported by an often behind the scenes team who used to be recognised as receptionists and administrators.  The role of the clinical support team has changed dramatically over the past few years.  In addition to the everyday duties of paperwork and answering the phones, the team are skilled at navigating appointment so that patients are directed to the most appropriate health care clinicians.  There are 5 full time and 3 part time members of the team, 7 who are trained to do blood pressure clinics and 6 who are trained flu vaccinators.

Our practice secretary has over 20 years of experience and has a vital role in supporting the clinicians.  She has a vast knowledge of referrals and access to community and secondary care services.  In addition she supports the clinicians with the management of cancer patients and high risk drug monitoring.
