Urgent Eye Care Service
Urgent eye problems will often be referred by the practice to the primary eyecare service which is facilitated by local opticians. These clinicians are better placed to diagnose eye conditions and refer into secondary care if necessary. They have specialist equipment allowing then to view and photograph the back of the eye (retinal photography) and slit lamps which enable them to view the front surface of the eye (cornea).
Patients are asked to make their own appointments by visiting www.primaryeyecare.co.uk and clicking on the "Find a Practice" button.
Eye symptoms that can be seen under the service include:
- Red or painful eye or eyelids
- Recently occurring flashes or floaters
- Recent and sudden loss of vision
- Foreign body in the eye
